How and Why I Started My Online Lingerie Business.

This is the most common question of curiosity I get from customers, so I decided to share a little inside information on the subject

I started my first website discount-intimate-apparel in 2001. At the time I was working in a food factory as a Sanitation Supervisor. I was surfing the Internet looking for bargain prices on bras and I found that I could get them very cheaply if I bought them by the dozen. So I proceeded to buy by the dozen and sell the ones that were not in my size to co-workers. Then I started to get requests, and one thing led to another.

I always wanted to teach myself how to make web pages and so I began creating my first website. It was a really rough site done by hand in HTML. Everything was going good, I could hardly keep up with the sales. Then I quit my job and about that time Forbes put out an article about Online Lingerie shops being one of the most profitable businesses to start up.

I have to admit since this all started things are not so great these days. I know there are like a million lingerie websites and the competition is rough. Our main site is located at http://www.ladystrange.com and we have set up a storefront at http://www.ladystrange.ecrater.com. Many of my woes come from the fact that I do not like to over hype products, prices etc..(I am a terrible salesman, but a wonderful shopper). I still struggle along to try and keep up with the changes in the Internet, thus this blog. I try desperately to keep in touch with customers and their desires.

Today I try to keep with the original theme of things. A variety of products from a ton of quality vendors and manufacturers available in a variety of sizes. I have always waited to get close out merchandise so I can pass the savings along, and have inventory of unique pieces. That is why some sizes are limited.

Froogle is Taking Sexy Back! Censorship for Lingerie Stores

I have been diligently working our stores inventory. In the background froogle automatically gets our feeds. I began to notice that only 15 of our 300+ products were showing up on froogle.

So I decided to manually enter a product. When I got done with the description and tried to enter it, I got a message froogle does not allow the word "sexy".

Back in January I noticed that my website was flagged as adult content. The word "lingerie" immediately makes a website adult content in google search engines. This is fine by me, as I am not comfortable with an 8 year old viewing our website. However, this is pretty extreme.

I wonder how this is going to come out in the wash. I wonder if froogle is going to offer an adult area to sell these goods in the future?

Quite frankly I wish google or froogle would ignore these words as it so hard to keep up with the search terms people use, that do nothing to describe an item. Examples: Hot Lingerie, Trashy Lingerie, Sexy Lingerie, Erotic Lingerie, Exotic Lingerie, etc...

I wonder how the lingerie store webmasters are going to go. Choices are to tone down descriptive words to be included in froogle, or keep the words and rank high in adult content search engines.

Here are some words I have figured out that are censored
Google: Lingerie, Erotic, Exotic
Froogle: Sexy, (I am not sure yet about lingerie)

If anyone knows of words to add to the list let me know and I will keep this updated

Once slim and lithe, I am now “full-figured.” I am also middle aged. Even though I’ve been married a number of years, my husband is still my lover and best friend. Lingerie isn’t just for those skinny ladies that blaze catwalks in Europe or those women jumping up and down exercising on the tube, lingerie is for fat chicks too! I know because I am a fat chick and I love lingerie…what’s even better?

Men love women in lingerie!

Lingerie is made in plus sizes, in some pretty steamy styles and shopping online is the best way to find all of the plus size lingerie any woman would love. Ten years ago I began looking for lingerie and you would think that lingerie shop owner would carry a size 18 right…wrong! That shop isn’t there anymore and that’s probably why.

Then I relied on discount stores, you know all those stores that end in –mart! Which honestly some of the items they carried were cute but they were cheap and didn’t last very long. I’m sure if you’ve ever purchased anything from these places, you know what I mean. Lingerie from these discount stores just doesn’t last and at times I wondered where they got the models from to make those cheap pieces of lingerie because the stuff I bought never flattered my curves!

The one day I came across a website full of plus size lingerie and I almost didn’t place an order, I saw this icon that said “contact us” so I e-mailed them with a size question. To may surprise just ten minutes later I checked my e-mail and customer support had e-mailed me back to give me exact measurements.

My very first order was a beautiful long off white satin gown with adjustable shoulder straps that came with a sheik satin and lace coat that matched. My husband actually picked it up from the post office but he had no clue what is was because it didn’t have the words ‘lingerie’ plastered all over it and it was very discreet, it looked like a normal package would. Ever since that day, I’ve ordered online and I’ve been so glad because I have lingerie, nice lingerie!

I’m a curvaceous woman and there are parts of my body that I want to accentuate, there’s lingerie made just for me thank God! There are days when I want to wear lingerie just for me because I feel feminine, days I want to show how sexy I feel or days when I just need to feel sexy because we all have those days when we don’t feel so sexy. I have found that by wearing just a simple pair of lacy panties has actually lifted my spirits and made my day better, panties are just one of my own weaknesses.

I have thongs probably for every day of the year, curve enhancing cheekies that my hubby loves and all kinds of bras too. All of them I ordered online, I’ve even made friends with a few of the site owners to get some attractive discounts but shhh… don’t tell anyone that!

My husband loves the fact that I wear lingerie and that we can spice up our love life, I’ve even ordered some delicate things for him! I have one set that’s a little racy you could say and my husband was shocked when I threw it on, so was I! Who says I can’t wear a navy blue corset with matching thongs? My hubby tells me I can wear those any day of the week after the fun we’ve had with those. I hate to admit this but I wore them under a dress to a funeral once, my hubby put his arm around me and he felt something familiar…he said, “what are you wearing under there?”

We left early!

The fact is lingerie is made for every woman and it’s an old boring cliché to think that lingerie is something that thin women are only entitled to. My advice to any woman who is looking for something to liven up the wardrobe is to grab a few nice pieces of lingerie, just don’t let it turn into a shopping hobby like mine has become unless you fall in love with lingerie too!

I Bought Some Sexy Knickers the Other Day.

The first thing I should do is introduce myself, or at least tell you that I am a man. That’s right, I too suffer the stony silences that accompany requests for lingerie from my partner and I always tell myself I’m going to do something about it. I’m finally going to get the nerve together to walk into that lingerie shop in town and buy the sexy silk number that’s hanging in the window. I’ve even made it as far as the door on two occasions now, but that’s as far as I’ve made it: until the other day that is.

It was a beautiful Monday evening and I was spending my time surfing the Internet and lazily looking at a few different sites when an advert for lingerie caught my eye. Why hadn’t I thought of this before? I buy virtually everything off the Internet but not lingerie. I clicked the button with a smile on my face, but still had to stop the nervous looks over my shoulder to make sure no one saw me enter. After a minute or two of looking around I realized I was free to peruse at will and find the perfect outfit that would not only make her feel happy but me as well.

That Monday night I learnt a lot, not only from looking at the Internet lingerie site but also by rifling through my partner’s underwear drawer. If she had come home early from her girls’ night out I may have had some awkward questions to answer but she didn’t so I was left in peace to find her size and the kind of thing she likes to wear. I learnt a lot that night, but in particular I learnt two things. Lingerie shopping on the Internet is not a scary thing; certainly not as scary as a ‘proper’ lingerie shop and I also learnt that the easiest way to find out a woman’s size is to look.

Two days later and there was a knock at the door. I answered to the postman holding a brown box. Thoughts started racing through my brain and the social anxiety began to creep back into my head. He must know what it is, he’s holding it right there in front of him. I hurriedly signed his little sheet with my own name although I did consider using a pseudonym for a few minutes but I didn’t want to have to stand up in court and explain my fraudulent activities arose because I was signing for lingerie. After all what the jury and the judge and the gallery full of laughing spectators think of me then?

As I slammed the door shut and wiped the sweat from my head I noticed that the packaging was brown. It was all brown, apart from my name and address. There was no identifying guilty label that might indicate I was a man buying lady’s underwear. When she came home from work my partner was more than a little happy with the surprise I bought her, in fact I think it bought me more brownie points than 4 night’s out. After all this time I’d finally bought her some lingerie. Granted it did take me some time to convince her I wasn’t having an affair, but once that was over she was very grateful. I’ll be buying more lingerie real soon.

I decided to write this article when I bumped into the fact that this exact phrase had been searched for numerous times in a day, and no one else has addressed the issue.

Before I begin, I must say it saddens me to see so much low self esteem and confidence. The Problem here is that no one can make you feel sexy; you have to do it yourself!
Remember the old saying that says, “How can you love someone if you do not love yourself?” the same rule applies here.

When you see a sexy person, start watching their behavior. You will notice that they are self confident, have good posture, good style, and walk with a strut. If you look real hard you may notice that these self confident sexy people are not perfect and they have flaws

The key is to “Love your self”
The first thing you need to do is start thinking positively about yourself. When you look in the mirror and begin to examine all of your flaws, immediately stop and train your mind to find something positive instead. Remember you are your own worst critic.

If you live or work in an environment where you are criticized on frequent basis, then every time you hear something critical, train your mind to back it up with something positive about yourself.

If you are in a relationship where you are criticized on a regular basis then I would highly suggest that you get out. Love yourself, you deserve better. I know women stay in these situations all of the time. If you are one of these women, then you really need to love your self.

Now it is time to spoil your self. Go take a nice long bubble bath, maybe by candle light. After you get out of the tub and dry off look in the mirror and tell yourself how sexy you are. Cook yourself your favorite meal or take yourself out to eat. Go shopping; get your hair done, new make up and a new outfit. Remember when you are shopping that you are buying and doing stuff that you think you look good in. If you are thinking about what “such and such” would like, it will not work. You have to feel comfortable in your styling in order to gain that self confidence that you need.

Here are a few miscellaneous tips to help you in finding that new sexy look.
Consider tanning, tanning can diminish blemishes and give you a smaller appearance with an added healthy glow. Exercise, I am not going to elaborate on this because it is a whole other topic, but it will make you feel better. Buy some sexy lingerie-remember it has to be something that you like.

We’ve been to them. We’ve hosted them. We’ve even starred in our own. Today’s bachelorette party is an opportunity for brides, their bridal party and good friends to spend a night on the town, a cozy evening at home, a pampered day out, or even a weekend hike.

But like any bridal tradition, the bachelorette party that mimics the groom’s own bachelor party has become a right of passage for brides: something old, something new, something borrowed and something so shocking that the discovery of it by the groom before the wedding is a constant fear. “Do you take this man?” “I do. Oh God if he’ll still have me!”

The party often starts innocently enough at a designated meeting place. There the bride is decorated and armed with props: a veil, an “I’m the bride” t-shirt, a garter, a male blow-up doll, candy necklaces and one of many cocktails. They play games like penis ring toss, pin the hose on the fireman, and have a ‘carve a penis out of a banana’ competition. Then they dance out to their limo or chauffeured van on a nocturnal quest of bar-crawling often including Fabio-type strippers and an estrogen-infused scavenger hunt.

Dares and Duties

How does the scavenger hunt work? There is a checklist of tasks or dares that the bachelorette and/or her fellow partners in crime must tackle by the end of the night.
